THE EXERCEO MISSION
Exerceo Fitness was founded on the ideal of empowerment - to help people exercise healthfully, purposefully and safely
So what does the word Exerceo mean?
Exerceo is the Latin word for “exercise training,” and that first drew me to the name. But I looked a little closer and discovered something - the ending of the word is -ceo. So I thought - “we are all in charge of our bodies - the ‘CEO’s’ or ‘chief executives‘ of our fitness!” The combination of Exer- of exercise + ceo to also form the word Exerceo.
This is the essence of Exerceo - empowerment to take control of your inner-CEO and your physical fitness. Look at in terms of owning a home. Investment is always required to keep it in good condition and maintain its value.
In much the same way - you OWN YOUR BODY!
If you’re happy with it and it’s in good condition - that’s great! But if you’re not happy with it and it’s not in good shape - you need to lose weight, perhaps you’ve lost strength over the years, or you have a health condition and your doctor has prescribed exercise - then you need to take action and invest in yourself to improve it. If you are in good shape, you must still consistently maintain your physical fitness in order to be in position to maintain optimal health. My mission is to empower and inspire you to take action, believe in yourself, and reach your best physical fitness, regardless of any challenges that may be getting in your way. Remember - you are your own best investment!
⚙️ The Origin of Exerceo 🧱
My passion for fitness and health started as a teenager. I was active my entire life, starting in childhood playing every sport I could - especially basketball, football, baseball, and running track. I swam, camped and hiked regularly, and it was this combination of sports and everyday fitness that helped craft my fitness philosophy, and I quickly realized as I matured into adulthood that I could not rely on youth and raw ability in order to be strong, healthy and fit. I drew on my work ethic ingrained in my DNA from my parents, who both came from business backgrounds. I worked in my father's furniture manufacturing business in Long Island City, NY for many years, starting in childhood and then as an adult full-time. It was at that factory where I first realized the value of hard work, and the discipline necessary to consistently achieve desired results. There I learned so many invaluable life lessons that I preach today. I discovered the meaning of everyday fitness - how everyday repetitive work movements of the body are actually the most demanding and grueling exercises, and how much fitness and stamina was necessary to perform them for the good of a common goal. That factory was my gym! I learned there first how to perform repetitive movements properly without injury. Thus I realized how everyday movements are actually exercises, and must always be performed safely and with good form. Ultimately I learned that we must stay in proper shape in order to do them regularly and successfully, and that this kind of fitness led to good health - and vice-versa.
To be truly healthy though, I knew I had to combine my passion, hard work, focus, and discipline with a healthy diet and proper rest - the last pieces of the puzzle. It was through this process that I healthily grew into my body, increased my strength, grew in self-esteem, and found my calling to help others achieve their best fitness possible.
I take this same approach with my clients - there is no substitute for commitment
After a downsizing in my previous career as a Marketing Director for a large multinational company, I made the decision of my life - to go all-in with my passion as my profession. When I first decided to make a permanent move into health and fitness, many believed I was crazy to not stay in the corporate world. But I knew I had to follow my gut, listen to my heart and work towards making a difference by helping others who needed guidance with exercise and physical fitness.
I made that decision 15 years ago, and I couldn't be happier with the choice
I look forward to working with you!
